Everything starts as a real problem — a graded card with nowhere good to live, a desk that needed a tiny screen, a clock that was somehow both ugly and humorless — and gets drawn, printed, fixtured, and revised until it earns a part number. I care about the half-millimeter gap, the weight in your hand, and the small joke hidden in the firmware.
